Turmeric is an Indian spice that belongs to the ginger family and is commonly used in Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian cooking. Eastern medicines use turmeric to clear infections and inflammations inside and outside of the body. It is a natural liver detoxifier, antiseptic, and contains anti-carcinogenic properties. If you can find it, fresh turmeric is superior.

This lassi is perfect as a light breakfast, enjoyed while relaxing in the sun, or as a post-dinner dessert.




Recipe
(makes 1 lassi)

1 cup plain greek yogurt
2 cups fresh cantaloupe
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp raw honey
1/4 tsp rose extract

Combine all in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy immediately.
